One thing I've noticed while doing these daily blogs is that I can chart my hyperfixations. This week it's been challenging to refrain from talking about the OGL, even though there is, quite literally, nothing new to say or read on the subject. Brains are funky that way.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I'm grateful for all the creators making announcements in the wake of the OGL debacle and the vibes of support they seem to be getting from the community. I'm excited to see Kobold Press and MCDM's new systems (I'm a bit of a systems slut (even if I never get to play)).
2. I am grateful for media literacy. It's seemingly in short supply, especially on the internet. It's rather a double-edged gratefulness, where I can only really appreciate it from seeing the effects of its absence but man I'm glad I can read a layer deeper on the media I consume.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
I sat down to write and turned out eight new pages of my novel. It's always worth it to celebrate a good writing day, even if I like Stephen R. Donaldson's maxim, “Great writers do not set to work because they are inspired, but rather become inspired because they are working.”
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
My job today is to keep my nose to the grindstone and flesh out the next chapter of the new draft. It'll take a little more brainstorming and outlining before I start but I believe all the pieces are in place to make for a more dramatic chapter two.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
I don't have a whole lot on my mind this morning. I'm already thinking ahead to what I need to write for the book, as well as any writing I need to do for my D&D-turned-Numenera (not) One-Shot. I really need a better name for it though. Spooky Scary Castle Funtime? Nah.
