1/17/2023, A Postponed Morning

Those astute readers among you might notice that it is no longer morning by a few hours. Alas, my internet went out first thing this morning and only just came back. I made up for the lost hours online by putting on my DVDs of Star Trek.

TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. I'm grateful for my Star Trek DVDs. I've always been skeptical of streaming for days just like today, where the internet goes away and so does your access to all those massive streaming libraries. Like, they're great for discovering new things but man I love a good ol' hard copy.

2. That said, I am grateful for the internet (for all its many, many, many, many faults). Without it, I wouldn't have this way of reaching out to the wider world. I just wish that we could have a version of the internet that was an unalloyed good. Or even a tolerable mediocre.

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

Cassie and I finally finished House of the Dragon. Been looking forward to that for a while. Life just kept getting in the way. Personally, I think I liked it better than Game of Thrones but I'm happy to sit on that opinion and let it develop and evolve for a while.

ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

I mean, today I already had a therapy session and with a snowstorm rolling in I'm not sure if I'll end up going for a walk like usual (might but might not). I also had an idea for a D&D Star Trek adventure. Something hopeful and optimistic.

WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

Not too much on my mind, other than playing TTRPGs and watching The Last of Us on HBO. I mean, I guess that's not entirely true. Therapy left me with a lot of mid-processed feelings, but that's not something I'm ready to discuss here. Not yet.

All best,
Shane Z.
