1/9/2023, An Anxious Morning

I woke up feeling pretty anxious. It might be related to Cassie and my's anniversary being this week but I can't imagine how or why. It's not directed at anything, Just a lot of that tight-chested worry that something bad is about to happen, y'know? Man, fuck this feeling.

TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. The GM from my bi-weekly D&D game unfurled a complicated web of Fey intrigue with my Warlock's Patron/Girlfriend's arranged marriage being revealed as an assassination plot. Like, my lovestruck warlock was aimed like a gun and fired at the groom. It was a great reveal.

2. Have I talked about Some More News, AKA Cody's-Showdy, AKA "Screamy-Boar-Man" (according to my wife? It's my favorite news show and I spent yesterday rewatching it while working on other stuff. Honestly, if you are a leftist with a ... "refined" sense of humor, check it out

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

After the wedding/assassination, my warlock proposed to his patron. It was super cute. IRL, I did spend (more) time (than I should have) creating a conversion sheet for D&D 5e to the Cypher System. I could have stopped but I was in the flow (obsessed) and kept going.

ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

I offered to take my wife to the next town over for an early anniversary date. We've been together 9 years! If you count the first year which was a really long, really messy courtship. 8 years from when we officially agreed we were dating. I had dating-related trauma, y'all.

WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

I just saw that HBO Max is removing the Justice League cartoons. WTF I just started watching Batman the Animated series. This is exactly the same timing as when I started watching Star Trek TNG last year on Netflix. This bullshit is why I still buy physical media. Fucking hell.

All best,
Shane Z.

P.S. D&D storytime: After the failed wedding/successful assassination, my warlock and his patron got drunk. He handed her a wood-carved ring but refused to ask the question until the morning (because alcohol and consent). When he woke up, she was gone, but on his finger was a ring of water. SO CUTE
