I just got finished with a clandestine operation. While my wife went downstairs to feed Jagger (the neighborhood stray turned emotional support goblin) I hid in the closet perusing the cookbook I bought her for Christmas, trying to find a recipe to make for her ... for Christmas.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I list my wife as someone I am grateful for a lot but she is amazing and I don't socialize with anyone else. Today, I am grateful that she is supporting my job hunt and not telling me to swallow my pride and self-entitlement and get a stocking job at Walmart.
2. Since I post these more frequently than I talk to people, I will cheat and say I am grateful for a kickass TTRPG designer, @TheDovetailor. We don't know each other very well but they were super supportive when we met at Big Bad Con and have continued to be ever since.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
Therapy wasn't my favorite session I've ever had, but I decided to use it as my daily walk. I even circled around to take my usual photo. It was cold and I can't find my long underwear but the mountains were very beautiful. A perfect companion to Hozier's "Blood Upon the Snow."
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
Well, I guess since I did apply for that copywriter position, that means today's focus is on my D&D One Shot or finding another job to apply for. Porque No los Dos?
I also miss writing fiction. There's just so much to do.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
My depression has been bad lately. Theories abound as to why but both my therapist and psychiatrist think it's my unemployment and that I could find purpose in a part-time job. I'm not one to argue with the studies; I just really want to make writing games work.
I've put in a lot of time getting to know the industry, meeting folks, 'networking' (whatever that is). I'm building up my portfolio and applying to every relevant position I see. If I keep putting my hat in the ring, I believe something will come of it.
