Raise your hand if one (or more) family members can get your blood pressure to rise in under two minutes (or less). That's where I am, processing a lifetime of trauma through a single "What do you want for Christmas" conversation that is way more complicated than it needs to be.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. My wife got me a booklight for Christmas but gave it to me early and thank god for that. The cat decided to be a nightmare goblin at 5am and I couldn't sleep, so I sat in bed reading "The Caped Crusade: Batman and the Rise of Nerd Culture" by Glen Weldon

2. My buddy NM. Before Covid shut down the world I was going to ask him to be the best man at my wedding. I reached out to him about my mental health and job-hunting struggles, and he's been very supportive. It's a relief to have someone in my corner (besides my wife, obviously).

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

I bought a cookbook for my wife as a Christmas gift and pulled a single recipe from it for us to have last night. I really enjoy feeling more like an active participant in the food we eat. Normally I just kind of eat whatever as long as it comes in under my calorie goal.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

Man, half the day is gone already. I went and got a haircut. Can that count? No? Okay, I'll just ... go work on my D&D One Shot. At this point, I'm celebrating getting this blog out. Some days be like that.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

Uh.

No thoughts just vibes.

Honestly, I'm just rather tired. I didn't sleep super well. I've just been coming out of a really bad depression spell. So maybe today can be a mellow day.

All best,
Shane Z
