My wife is almost finished with her morning coffee and then we go grocery shopping, which will have the added wrinkle of us leaving town for two days this week to visit family. Her family. Not mine. Not even a Christmas Miracle could make me drive to see my biological family
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. Scott Snyder, the comic book writer. I finished his Batman Omnibus Vol. 2 last night before bed. While I think Court of Owls kicked off stronger than Last Knight on Earth I still respect the hell out of his work and am so grateful for his comic writing class.

2. I'm grateful for my friend, Rambo. No really, that's his last name. Everyone else in his adult life calls him by his first name but I've been calling him Rambo since the seventh grade. This dude has had my back most of my life and reached out to see how I was doing. Good dude.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

Not a lot went ... well yesterday? I mean, I did all the things I was supposed to, and every time I sat down to do what I wanted to do, something else I had to do cropped up. By the time it was all done it was bedtime. But I did get in another job application so there is that.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

One thing that did go well yesterday was I did finish my D&D One-Shot checklist. So today my job is to tick the box on as many of the things on the list as possible. Because leaving town for Christmas will throw my whole schedule off.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

I'm just in a negative headspace this morning. Too much time online. Anyone out there relate? I need an internet holiday, "a very long holiday. And I don't expect I shall return--" wait no that's Lord of the Rings ... unless the internet is the Ring. 🤯
AS NEEDED, A BRIDGE OF SELF-COMPASSION

I might be onto something. The Ring offers terrible power but it is corrupting in its influence.

Is this not kinda the effect on Social Media? We can't leave even though we know it's bad for us. And, I mean, look at a Youtuber with burnout, and then look at Gollum. Just saying.

All best,

Shane Z
