So ... I just woke up ... 3 hours later than usual. Got a real, "I LIVE ONCE MORE" Energy. I had french toast with syrup yesterday for breakfast so I added an hour to my hour-long walk. My feet are not happy. My legs were not happy. My body has notes for the manager.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. My friend, CJ. When I did writing streams on Twitch she was my most loyal viewer and supplier of writing prompts. Once I felt confident that I had something going with this blog I reached out to let her know it existed. She said, "I feel honored you told me"
My heart.
2. My therapist had to call to reschedule because there'd been a miscommunication between him and the front desk and he was picking a "Daddy/Daughter School Day" over me. I kinda love that. He also took a moment to ask how my D&D game went on Sunday, cause he's cool.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
Honestly, I needed a day to gather myself, and the walk might have left me incapable of anything else, so I sat down and played "God of War Ragnarok" for the first time since the sixth and read some of "The Caped Crusade" and ... I can't say I feel recharged, but I did need it.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
I should say my D&D One-Shot but what I actually have to do is all of today's and tomorrow's chores because we're leaving to visit the inlaws. I have to water the plant, do my laundry, vacuum, take down the dishes, and take the trash to the street. Totally doable.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
I'm percolating on the D&D One Shot in the back of my mind and my question is ... does it have to be a One Shot? I am basing it on a campaign I ran for some friends and truth be told, I liked it better before I stripped it back to a three-hour experience.
There is no real right or wrong answer. The challenge of keeping things tight and focused is really good practice, but I think there is value in acknowledging that maybe the One-Shot would breath better if it was 2-3 sessions. A trilogy of One-Shots!
All best,
Shane Z
P.S. My wife made cookies. I'm gonna have cookies ...
P.P.S. My wife walked up behind me and handed me a cookie as I was typing that I was gonna have cookies. I love this woman.
