My wife and I are sleepy at opposite times of the day. I am tired at midday but wide awake first thing and after dark. Unfortunately for her, this means I will talk while she's falling asleep and then pick up where I left off when she wakes up. All before she's had her coffee.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I am grateful for Banana C. Games' playlist of Tabletop RPG Tips Youtube videos. I watched some of them yesterday while mulling over my life and my choices and just generally taking stock of my life and I really appreciated having her videos as a resource.
2. I am grateful for Crash Course. I've been bouncing between their Mythology lectures and the Economy lectures. I don't miss university but I do miss the feeling of constantly learning (at least in theory, my
alma mater is nothing to write home about).
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
I decided yesterday to abandon my D&D One-Shot idea and allow it to be as long as it needs to be and immediately doubled the length. I wrote four pages in a single sitting. AND IT FELT SO GOOD. I was suddenly having fun and enjoying the ideas that were coming to me. It was great.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
My brother-in-law missed us when we visited the rest of the family last week so he is driving up to visit us. Methinks playing host will be the critical action item for the day, which means I have to do my chores and go for my walk ... before he gets here?
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
I've been using Letterboxd to make a list of movies I haven't seen that I want to see and slowly ticking movies off. Recently I watched "The American President", "All the President's Men" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang." Reminds me of watching movies with my cinephile brother.
Between the nostalgia of watching true-blue classics "2001: A Space Odyssey" and weird indie-art-house schlock "Cecil B. Demented" it's also such a learning experience, especially with movies that have survived decades and remained popular.
All best,
Shane Z.
P.S. The rain just started coming down, so .... not sure what I'm going to do about my daily walk.
