The year is ending. Long live the year. 2022 was a weird thing, caught between a lot of competing forces. I relate. I don't really do resolutions, but I have a theme in mind for 2023: the year of self-respect. I'm going to hold my head high and pursue game writing.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I am grateful for my friend, Ali. They chatted with me on my walk yesterday and listened to me processing the last week in real-time. I wish I could process faster and in silence but it doesn't seem to be how I am made. Fortunately, I am surrounded by people who accept it
2. Can I be grateful for Daniel Craig's accent as Benoit Blanc? It is amazing and it gives me life. I'm truly grateful for Rian Johnson making these movies, that the cast is having so much fun, and that I can look to them for fun,
inspiration, and lessons in the craft.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
I once again sat down and cranked out a few D&D pages. I even got to write a riff on "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" that made me laugh really hard. It might be a darling to cut later but for right now I'm very proud (and a little smug). It's really coming together.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
Oh, boy, last absolutely critical action item for 2022! Better make it good. I will work on my D&D (not) One-Shot. I'd love to finish it on the last day of the year but that doesn't feel super realistic (but not impossible). Let's see what we can make happen today.`
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
Not a lot on my mind this morning. I did most of my chores, I've got my plan for the day, and all I have to do is ... y'know, do it. End the year on a high note. I feel (tentatively) hopeful for what comes next. Hope you do too. See you in 2023, folks. Good vibes sent your way.
