My therapist asked if we could start an hour later than usual so I'm trying not to fall into the trap of not getting ready until the last minute. I'm notorious for waiting until the last minute. What's the Calvin and Hobbes quote about inspiration?
Calvin: You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
Hobbes: What mood is that?
Calvin: Last-minute panic.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. Is it too on the nose to say I'm grateful for my wife on Valentine's Day? Things have been rough (not surprising to readers of this blog) but we're working through it. Life'll be easier when I get a job and we can get out of here. Ah, the dream, an apartment to ourselves.
2. This one I am hesitant to voice: I am grateful for James Cameron (known narcissistic asshole that he is) for still getting a movie like "Avatar: The Way of Water: made. Quality aside, it was nice to watch something not made by committee that wasn't an adaptation or reimaging.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
I mean, Cassie and I went to see the movie, and that went pretty well. We used to see movies all the time before Covid. Now ... it's hard to get out into the world after learning how to hunker down. It was good to get out together.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
Ooph. I'm gonna try starting a new short story. I need to stretch my fingers. So I'm going to write a 5,000-word story set in this Numenera setting I'm homebrewing. Just want to get the tone and vibe locked in. But also, I need to be creative y'all.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
So my Numenera campaign is going to be Star Trek meets Spelljammer by way of Numenera. Also known as, "MY BRAIN IS WEIRD." So one thing I want to do is build a Star Trek dream team. Which characters do I love more than all the other characters and can I riff on them.
