I've been thinking. These blogs go almost entirely unread. It's a shame. I'm 98% consistent with getting them uploaded on time. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop, just ... frustrated. I never know where or when to invest my effort in things. Y'know? Like, I'll keep going, but why?
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I am grateful for this blog. Even though I am disheartened, I am grateful for the rhythm and routine of it. I am grateful for the challenge of checking in with myself on a daily basis. I am grateful for a record of the more mundane moments of recent months. And that's a lot.
2. I'm grateful for my neighbor, Frank, an older gentleman and photographer I met while working at the bookstore some years ago. He helped Cassie get unstuck so she could drive to work. In his words, "You got to teach that girl to drive in the snow, except you don't know either."
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
Well, as I mentioned yesterday, I sent out a creative missive to several friends to riff on a fictional history I wrote, to come up with legends, myths, and folk tales based on that history for my players to uncover. I got several folks who were excited to try it.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
These days just keep coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they--after several days of ongoing depression I think I'm going to try and catch up on some chores I fell behind on. It's comical (and infuriating) how effective a little bit of self-care can be.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
It's days like this that I always think I'd be a good fit for a writers' room or similar creative team. I love combining my creativity with other people's to see what we can come up with together. I think it's a great way to get out of old habits you might not be aware of.
