2/28/2023, A Fanboy Morning

I just saw that Elden Ring is getting DLC. I cannot begin to express the vibrations going through my body right now. I am psyched beyond reason. I *love* these games. I'd love to write something like a FromSoft game one day.

TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. I am grateful for ... artists. News keeps pouring out about how AI is and will continue impacting artists but there is one thing it cannot touch. I saw two titles at the bookstore yesterday from authors I like and I immediately bought them. Parasocial maybe but still genuine.

2. I remember a phrase I heard after Robin Williams passed, "You mourn not because you knew them, but because they helped you know yourself." Coming from an abusive background, art and artists carried me through. They did help me know who I was. I'll always be thankful for that.

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

I mentioned some of this in yesterday's blog but I had a session with the psychiatrist and went to a bookstore and ran general errands. I even went for a walk despite it being ... brisk. I also convinced Cassie to bust out Bloodborne and take another crack at Lady Maria.

ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

I think I'm going to dedicate some time today to sending out some more job applications. They're ... what's the term, unadvertised? But I'm hopeful. Hopeful is really all I can be at this point, but if FromSoft games have told me anything the impenetrable wall with eventually break.

WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

FromSoft. Like, I've managed to work it into each of my answers. I've obviously got Miyazaki on my mind. But other than that ... hmmmn. I'm still reading those Pop Culture and Philosophy books and taking notes for my Numenera game, which feels appropriate for Monte Cook.

I'd love to work with Monte Cook games someday. I threw my hat in the ring when they were looking for an intern and never heard back, although I'm not sure they ever filled the position so ... who knows. I just love his work, going all the way back to Planescape. One day, right?
