Whoops, missed yesterday's blog. Sorry, folks, I know you were waiting with bated breath. Truth be told I didn't even realize I'd missed it. Not that yesterday was overwhelmingly busy but it was just busy enough that the blog slipped through the cracks. That's just how it do sometimes.

TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. I am grateful for Ibram X. Kendi. I've been reading "Stamped From the Beginning" and the history of racism in America (or the racist history of America) is so deeply horrifying ... it's no wonder the right would rather bury it. Every page hurts my heart but I'm glad for it.

2. I am grateful for the career center at my alma mater and the various advocates I've developed relationships with during my job hunt. It's been a relief to see them surprised by my efforts not yielding results. Doesn't help the employment issue, but it makes me feel better.

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

As I just mentioned, the meeting with the career office went relatively well. I admitted my frustration at not making it to the interview stage with a single position I've applied for and my representative suggested he roll up his sleeves and sit with me the next time I applied for a job.

ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

Today is the first day of a rather busy week with nothing scheduled, so I'd like to pick up where I left off on my novel. I also did have some ideas for my TTRPG module. I think I could take the encounter I plan on using for my Numenera game and write it out as a short module.

WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

I stumbled across some old articles from 2010 about Postmodern Epic Fantasy that's been percolating in the back of my mind. I got a minor in English (creative writing but still) and a lot of critical theory did not click for me. I understand it better now, but still.

Can anyone here explain the concept to me? Hell, can anyone just explain postmodernism to me? I get it but I don't get it. Whenever I read about the subject I feel like I'm in the literary version of "Who's on First?"

All best,
Shane Zellow
