Oh hey look it's twenty minutes to midnight. Who wants a last-minute blog? Not a lot to report today. I played a little bit of "Torment: Tides of Numenera" which I'd kinda forgotten existed. Felt like solid research for my upcoming game though.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I am grateful for my friend, Nik. I've brought him up before, quite a few times on this blog. Makes sense though, seeing as I asked him to be my Best Man at my wedding. He's debating the next step of his life, debating taking a seasonal job back in this town and asked my advice.
2. I am grateful for my friend, Ali, who also popped back into town to visit their family and asked what I was doing tomorrow and I said, "Hanging out with you, of course," and they said, "Naturally." I'm excited to see them. It's been a while.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
Also last minute, I ordered gifts for my wife's 32nd Birthday. I'm excited about that as well. I got her a lot of fandom-related shirts, coffee mugs, and some other stuff. I'll share the whole list after her birthday passes. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to learn a boardgame.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
It's 11:46 PM so whatever the critical action for the day is I'd better do it fast. I did build the shape of my upcoming Numenera game. No idea if it will survive first contact with the players but I needed a starting place from which to ask ethical and philosophical questions.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
My therapist asked me a question that is going to stick with me for a while. I described an encounter from the past week that I talked about here on the blog and my therapist asked, "Why would you be subjecting yourself to this type of relationship?" Woof.
I talked about this with my wife for over an hour and floated a bunch of theories, old habits, conflict avoidance, and most interestingly, a form of controlled emotional self-abuse. The world is too big to be mad at so I'm going to turn to a person that reliably irks me.
