Hey, gang! I had a terrible week! My doctor put me on Rosuvastatin and after seven days I had accumulated from the side-effects list, muscle aches, lethargy, and headaches. I am no longer on Rosuvastatin but I am meeting a Nutritionist later this week to talk about diet and cholesterol.

TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. I am grateful for my last player making some headway on her character. She's a grad student so I understand how packed her schedule is, but she's come up with some pretty wild and fun ideas for me to incorporate into the worldbuilding. And we're only 1 of 3 steps down! Who knows what else she'll come up with!

2. I am grateful for my wife guiding me through healthier eating. I was raised on 4th of July BBQ food, Nacho Cheese Doritos, and Code Red: Mtn Dew. This is all very new to me. But I'd certainly rather find alternatives than die of a heart attack in my 30s.

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

I got some writing done! I finished Chapter 5 so I have officially introduced all the main characters in draft 3. Chapter 5 is still a little wonky, a little unfocused, shall we say, but I spent yesterday's walk talking options with Cassie and I think we determined how to focus it.

ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

Before I forget I want to mark down my player's choices for her character but I really want to dive into editing Chapter 5. By the end of the chapter there were three separate things trying to happen and I want to cut each one back to its bare minimum to allow them all to breathe.

WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

A bit of panic, honestly. I've been so rundown with the medication side-effects I feel like I'm just coming back into myself. Again. I hate how many times this has happened. But, as I like to say, again and again, we're here, we're pushing through. Glad some folks like you are on the journey with me.
All best,
Shane Zellow

BOOK NOOK

The Luminous Dead
Caitlin Starling

This book punched me in the face. In a good way. It felt like "The Martian" through the lens of Donaldson's GAP series. As in, characters who reach their emotional, physical, and mental extremities at the halfway point and then keep going. I blasted through this in three sittings.
