Happy pride month, Gang! My roommate's partner engaged me in a conversation about the validity of transgender people. He's not a fan. So despite us being two cis men, I did my best to engage with him because ... well, someone not parroting right-wing talking points had to try.

TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)

1. I am grateful for the techniques that my therapist has taught me, specifically the Box Method and the Safe Place technique. I might have to use them after that conversation. I really didn't like speaking for an entire group of people that I don't belong to. I feel sick.

2. I am grateful for my nonbinary bisexual spouse, who walked through the middle of this conversation wearing an entire rainbow-themed wardrobe. 10/10 would marry again.

ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY

I wrote so much yesterday! Over a thousand words. That's a pretty good day. Let me know if you folks want to see the Excel spreadsheet I use to track my word count. It's a little over-the-top but that's what happens when you keep modifying it for 7 years.

ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY

So my initial plan was to keep working on my responsibilities, writing, campaign prep, and job hunting. That said, right now, I think it's best that I wrap this up with some meditative exercises. I hate conversations like the one I just had. I hate engaging with someone patting themselves on the back for being so civil and loving as they dismiss the validity of an entire ostracised minority.

WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND

Today does not need to be a lost cause but damn that threw off my equilibrium. I know myself well enough to know that, with my level of sensitivity, this could be a rabbit hole that takes a whole day to climb out of. Just ... fuck, man. Why do people with bad opinions feel compelled to broadcast them? "How dare this group I'm not a part of exist publicly and I must make my ire known."

All best,
