Morning, Gang! Up and at the blog early because Cassie and I decided to finish watching John Wick 4 before she goes to work at 11. How's that for early morning motivation. That said, keep your fingers crossed that the weather works with me today. Might be hard to get writing done on the computer more thunderstorms roll in.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I am grateful for Chuck Wendig's new book "Gentle Writing Advice". I'm already blasting through it and so far it's been a lovely meditation on the subject. I've been following his blog since at least 2014 and it's been such a privilege to grow as a person in parallel to him.
2. I am grateful for all the work I've been doing in therapy. I loved the conversation I had with my friend the other day but you can't have a 3 hour chat about deeply personal things without rubbing up against some nerves. Growing up, I'd have never even recognized that. Now? I can clock them as they happen and start to process.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
I got a fair bit of writing done yesterday. Wrapped up Chapter 10! It's feeling a little wobbly, considering its plot is cobbled together Frankesntein's Monster style from 4 different chapters from the previous draft. On paper the flow of information works, but in execution it feels wobbly.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
I saw another job posting so I'd like to dedicate time to getting an application sent in. I got another job rejection yesterday that I still need to print off and hang on my wall of rejection letters. It's definitely moments like this where I feel more and more worn down. But we keep going. We keep showing up and we keep doing the work.
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
I have a meeting with my psychiatrist next Monday and I think I'd like to try my hand at a different or supplementary antianxiety medication. This past month was brutal and I'm not 100% sure what the triggers were. I just feel so, well, worn down.
