Well. Shit. I fell behind writing for a few days and when I sat down to write I realized it's because Chapter 7 is lopsided and needs a rewrite. It's only 5 pages so it's not the worst thing in the world but damn it's never fun to realize you've gone down a dead-end path.
TWO THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (SPECIFIC)
1. I am grateful for my friend Nik (not the usual friend, Nik). They took some time today to speak with me about their views on 'What makes a good ally' (not saying they can speak for all people in all things). They ultimately landed on, "Keep loving the marginalized people in your life" and "Buy them snacks." My friend Nik may in fact want snacks.
2. I am grateful for my wife. I do sand tray with my therapist and the mini I use got dropped in the driveway and crushed. But my wife swooped in with glue and determination and he's back on his feet again! She did a really impressive job.
ONE THING THAT WENT WELL DURING THE DAY
I put in another job application! Just gotta keep showing up. Keep showing up. Keep showing up. Shane you just gotta keep showing up and then eventually showing up will have been worth it to show up all those times you showed up and it wasn't worth it. I'm fine.
ONE ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY
Seeing as I have to throw out five pages and start over I really need to get any new writing done. Just get any level of momentum. The rest will come. "Great writers do not set to work because they are inspired, but rather become inspired because they are working". -- Stephen R. Donaldson
WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND
Writing is hard, folks. I mentioned before that we're finally getting to the part of the novel that requires actual rewriting and sometimes that means moving away from previous versions iteratively. It's a process to figure out what didn't work and why and how to improve.
